Compare the goals
| Decision | Breast lift | Breast augmentation |
|---|---|---|
| Main goal | Reshape and raise the contour | Increase volume |
| Added volume | Usually not a significant size increase | The central purpose of augmentation |
| Sagging | A core concern for a lift discussion | Does not reliably correct substantial sagging on its own |
| Tradeoff to discuss | Scars, sensation, healing and shape | Implant or fat-transfer risks, maintenance and possible future surgery |
Start with the change you want
Explain whether your priority is size, shape, upper fullness, position or asymmetry. Ask which concerns a lift alone or augmentation alone would leave unchanged. Choosing by cup size alone can hide other decisions.
If a combined plan is proposed
Ask why both procedures are recommended, whether they would be performed together or staged and how each changes the risks, recovery and price. An implant introduces long-term device questions that a lift alone does not.
A before-and-after image is useful only when its starting point and the operations performed are clear. Ask about consent, consistent photography and time since surgery.
